If you are interested in printing designs on paper or fabric but don't want to buy any expensive equipment then why not try leaf printing?

The first stage of this process is simply to go out and find some attractive leaves. Pick shapes that appeal to you and avoid selecting very small leaves as these may be difficult to handle. Make sure that your chosen leaves are in good condition as any missing pieces or holes will show in the final print.

Equipment for Leaf Printing

Once you have selected your leaves you need to set up your equipment. Work on a flat surface to ensure that you create even prints. It is probably best to print on paper at first and then move on to fabric once you have perfected your technique. You can use paint or ink to cover the leaves. I use the same sort of block printing ink that I use for lino printing. You will need to have your paint or ink in a tray or dish before you apply it. You will also need a paint brush or small roller so that you can cover the leaves evenly.
