Designing Fashion In Institute Mumbai

An often misunderstood emblem of art makes a comeback across London, courtesy of fashion icon John Galliano. As a world renowned fashion designer and artist, Galliano has collaborated with Elle magazine on an art masterpiece designed to be posted across the walls, streets and malls of London – all to advertise London Fashion Week.

Galliano's Fashion Graffiti

The masterpiece? Graffiti. Ah, but not just any old graffiti. I'm talking Fashion Graffiti.

Art graffiti is not completely new on the walls of London, but what about on the cobbled floors that wind throughout the city and its back-street walls? Galliano mustered up a creative ground-breaker, achieved by stencilling, then pressure-washing the surface beneath the stencil, ending in an outstanding wall tattoo that breaches the layers of London.

I dare add that England's weather hasn't held up, and the torrential rain we've had will soon begin to wash away the brilliance John Galliano perfected. But, for the moment at least, we can all say that graffiti can remain known as a form of art (thank goodness), and we all have John Galliano to thank for doing the honours.

About John Galliano

  • Born 28th November 1960 in Gibraltar; a true blessing to his parents for receiving such a gift.
  • From the age of six, his family moved to London, and he was brought up in the staggering city – London, a place of inspiration and passion.
  • Graduating from St. Martin's College of Art and Design, he shortly rolled into the designing world, igniting his talents to everyone willing, and unwilling, to acknowledge.
  • In 1987 he was awarded “British Designer of the Year”, which also followed in 1994 and 1995.
  • His inspiration for his art and designs have deep roots; they embrace fashion trend going back as far as the French Revolution, the Renaissance, as we know it. Of course, his passion for this led to his first show in 1989 as part of Paris Fashion Week.
  • His label: Christian Dior.
  • Random fact: Galliano is a fitness fanatic! He follows a rigorous exercise regime consisting of a 6 a.m. start followed by an arduous aerobic session (40 minutes!) And that's just the warm-up, guys. He then embarks on a ten-minute stretch (well needed) before hitting a six-mile run. I guess that's the institution of all his creative masterpieces.
