Pipeline Design And Construction

Host a miniature performance of the Wizard of Oz or Peter Pan, all in miniature paper actors and handmade props. Constructing a theater from cardboard and paper is simple for experienced paper artists and enthusiastic crafters.

Additional patience and time is needed, along with creativity when choosing and making the characters, props, and backdrops. Painting the theater also requires imagination when choosing colors and potential designs for free-hand or stenciled embellishment.

Materials Needed:

  • one cardboard shoebox
  • one medium-sized cardboard box (theater platform)
  • colored craft paint
  • scissors
  • exacto knife
  • glue
  • cardstock

Constructing the Theater

Choose two boxes, one smaller than the other, to form the stage and the platform. Sizes can vary, but the most common choice is a cardboard shoebox. The larger box can be any size, so long as the size is big enough to allow the theater operator to move their hands freely inside.
